Why do cheap books cost so much to sell on eBay?
Two reasons. The rate is one of eBay’s highest, and the per-order fee is fixed. A $4 paperback pays $0.91, which is 22.8% of its price. If the buyer also pays $4 postage, eBay charges its 15.3% on the $8 total: $1.52. Selling books in bundles, or pricing them with postage in mind, keeps more of each sale.
Do vinyl records pay the book and music rate?
No. eBay’s row says music except vinyl records, so records pay the 13.6% of most categories. A $30 record pays $4.48; a $30 CD or DVD pays $4.99. In the calculator, choose “Most categories” for a record and this page’s category for CDs, cassettes, films and books.
What do UK business sellers pay on books?
Much less. eBay UK charges business sellers 9.9% on books, comics and magazines, and the same 9.9% on most films, TV and music. With the £0.30 per-order fee on small orders and the 0.35% regulatory fee, an £8 book pays £1.12. UK private sellers pay no final value fee on books.
