Stripe Fee Calculator

How much does Stripe charge per payment?

In the US, 2.9% + 30¢ per successful card payment. A $100 payment costs $3.20, leaving $96.80. Extra charges are added for an international card (1.5%), a card typed in by hand (0.5%) and currency conversion (1%).

In the UK the price depends on the card: 1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards, 2.8% + 20p for premium UK cards, 2.5% + 20p for cards from the European Economic Area and 3.15% + 20p for international cards. A £100 international card payment costs £3.35.

What about bank payments and invoices?

ACH Direct Debit in the US costs 0.8%, at most $5. Bacs Direct Debit in the UK costs 1%, at least £0.20 and at most £4. If you bill through Stripe Invoicing, 0.4% (Starter) or 0.5% (Plus) is added for each paid invoice.

Are there other Stripe fees?

A dispute costs $15 in the US and £20 in the UK. Instant Payouts in the US cost 1.5% of the amount, at least $0.50. Neither is in the calculator’s total, because they do not happen on every sale.

$1.75 for a US card (2.9% + 30¢), leaving $48.25.

Does Stripe charge a monthly fee?

Not on standard pricing: you pay per successful payment. Invoicing and some other products add their own charges.

Does Stripe charge more for international cards?

Yes: 1.5% more in the US, plus 1% if the currency is converted. In the UK an international card costs 3.15% + 20p instead of 1.5% + 20p.

Who pays the Stripe fee?

The business receiving the money. Stripe takes it before the payout. Use the “what to charge” mode to find a price that covers it.

Is Stripe cheaper than PayPal?

For a $100 US card payment, Stripe costs $3.20 and PayPal Checkout $3.98. Compare both for your own amount on the home page.
