How each one works out its cut
StockX takes two fees from the sale price: a transaction fee set by your Seller Level (9% at Level 1) and 3% payment processing. If the two come to less than $5, it charges $5. GOAT takes a commission set by your seller rating (9.5% at 90 or more), a seller fee ($0 at a drop-off, $5 with prepaid shipping), and 2.9% of what is left when you move it to a bank or PayPal. Neither asks you to charge the buyer postage: StockX sends you a prepaid label, and GOAT’s seller fee covers drop-off or prepaid shipping.
The $5 floor on cheap pairs
StockX’s minimum decides cheap sales. On a $25 item StockX takes $5.00, 20.0% of the price, while GOAT takes $3.04. The two cross at $41.32: below it GOAT leaves you more, above it StockX does, by $0.12 on a $100 pair.
Seller Level and seller rating
Both reward good sellers. StockX’s transaction fee falls level by level: 9% at Level 1, 8.5% at Level 2, 8% at Level 3, 7.5% at Level 4, 7% at Level 5. At Level 3 the $180 pair costs $19.80. GOAT punishes a falling rating harder: from 70 to 89 the commission is 15%, which makes the same pair cost $31.44. Shipping with GOAT’s prepaid label adds a $5 seller fee: $26.68 in all.
Cash out now, or spend it on GOAT?
GOAT’s 2.9% cash-out fee is charged only when you withdraw. If you will spend the money on GOAT anyway, leave it in your balance: the $180 pair then costs $17.10, less than StockX’s $21.60. Our records hold no payout fee for StockX.
