How does eBay’s sliding watch fee work?
Each slice of the price pays its own rate. On a $2,500 watch, the first $1,000 pays 15% ($150.00) and the next $1,500 pays 6.5% ($97.50). With the $0.40 per-order fee that is $247.90, or 9.9% of the price. A $15,000 watch pays $797.90, about 5.3% of the price.
Is eBay dearer for watches than for other items?
For cheaper watches, yes: 15% is more than the 13.6% most items pay, so a $500 watch pays $75.40 against $68.40. The lower slices catch up quickly. From about $1,197.10, a watch pays less than a typical item at the same price, and the gap keeps growing.
What do UK business sellers pay on watches?
eBay UK charges 12.9% on the first £750 of a watch and 3% on the rest, plus the per-order fee and the 0.35% regulatory fee. A £2,000 watch pays £141.65. Jewellery other than watches has its own rule; see our jewelry calculator.
